Environmental Scientist I – Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) – Nashville, TN

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. GMC has an opening for Environmental Scientist I in Nashville, TN to support a variety of on-going biological resources-related projects. The ideal candidate will be involved with a variety of tasks including supporting biological and ecological field work, preparing technical reports and plans in accordance with regulatory requirements, and assisting the biological resources team during environmental project review. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions that effectively address environmental challenges such as pollution control, natural resource management, and ecosystem restoration.

Responsibilities

• General knowledge base should include familiarity with biological / ecological processes, wetland and / or stream science, botany and / or wildlife, and regulatory permitting concepts.
• Responsible to provide functional assistance to biological / ecological field teams during site assessments and data collection to include wetland delineations, stream determinations, flora and faunal surveys (including threatened and endangered species), natural resource permitting, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process documentation.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project managers, other field personnel, clients, regulatory agency personnel, and contractors.
• Other activities, as directed by your supervisor.
