MO Special Education Long Term Substitute Transitional Aide, 5.0 hoursday, 18.92 per hour

Location : TCAPS Montessori

General Summary :

The Special Education Aide Substitute provides assistance to Special Education students in the classroom. He / she reports to the principal or teacher designated by the principal. $18.92 per hour. Selected applicant may need to apply through ESS Midwest Inc. (formerly PCMI Services). Hours and specific dates are to be determined.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

Assists special education student(s) with academics in regular education classroom.

Assists students in categorical classrooms.

Assists special education students in physical education music art at lunch and recess as needed.

Takes part in planning meetings and IEPCs as requested.

Assists with small group non-direct instruction.

Assists with large group non-direct instruction.

Assists with physical challenges (wheel-chairs scribe daily life skills communication devices).

Works in areas of self-help (toileting diapering dressing feeding dispensing medications per district policy)

Monitors behavior of students on behavior plans and others as needed under the direction of the special education teacher.

Serves as a witness for medication administration if requested.

Attends training or in-services.

Accompanies special education students on field trips.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required :

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma. Previous college credit WorkKeys certification or college degree preferred.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students and school personnel.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Ability to care for supervise and nurture children.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to assist with maintaining records of student progress.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to resolve conflict.
• Dependable reliable and protective of sensitive / confidential information.
• Willingness to attend training.

Physical and Mental Requirements :

Environmental Conditions :

Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures including work on slippery and / or uneven surfaces. Work environment includes working around students school equipment and office equipment.

Work Schedules :

Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the districts school year calendar.

Background Checks :

The individual selected for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
