Position Title : Assistant Superintendent of the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Classification : Education Programs Administrator 3
Salary : $11,929 - $18,497 non-PERS monthly ($12,758 - $19,782 PERS monthly)

The Oregon Department of Education is seeking an experienced executive to lead statewide strategies that center equity, champion culturally responsive systems, and create real impact for historically and currently underserved students.
This is an executive service position and serves at the pleasure of the agency director. This position is a hybrid role that includes both remote and onsite work. While remote work is embraced to the fullest extent possible, the individual in this role will be required to report to the office or other locations when business or operational needs necessitate in-person presence. Travel to Salem and various locations throughout Oregon will be expected.

What you will do!
The Assistant Superintendent of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is a key executive leader at the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), responsible for driving statewide equity strategies that transform educational systems and improve outcomes for historically and currently underserved students. As a core member of the Director’s Executive Team, this role provides high-level leadership, policy direction, and cross-sector coordination to embed equity across Oregon’s public education landscape. The Assistant Superintendent also leads a dynamic team of leaders and staff, fostering a culture of inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Typical Duties Include :
Strategic Leadership & Policy Development : Shape and execute ODE’s vision for educational equity, develop statewide policies, and represent the agency in high-profile equity and legislative forums.
Team & Talent Development : Lead, mentor, and supervise a diverse team of professionals; build leadership capacity in equity, and implement inclusive hiring and workforce development practices.
Program Oversight : Oversee the design and implementation of major statewide initiatives, including the Student Success Plans, Health in Education, and Multilingual Education, managing a complex budget portfolio exceeding $30 million.
Cross-Agency Collaboration : Coordinate with internal divisions and external partners, including tribal nations and other state agencies, to ensure equity remains at the core of educational strategy and service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications (Need to Have)
Nine years of management experience; OR six years of management experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Fiscally Informed : Strong understanding of public fund management, with experience overseeing complex budgets aligned with strategic priorities and community needs.
