The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting in the management of construction projects from inception to completion. This role involves close coordination with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to help ensure that all phases of the project are executed effectively, efficiently, and meet required quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning : Assist in developing comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and scopes of work. Support pre-construction activities such as permitting, scheduling, and procurement.
- Team Coordination : Work collaboratively with project teams, including field supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors. Support the assignment of tasks, help set project goals, and monitor progress to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Client Communication : Act as a support liaison between the client and construction teams. Communicate updates, address technical questions, and help ensure client expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Budget Management : Assist with tracking project costs, reviewing expenditures, and identifying opportunities for cost savings. Support the preparation and presentation of financial reports to project stakeholders.
- Quality Control : Help ensure all work meets industry standards and project specifications. Participate in site inspections and assist in resolving any technical or quality issues that arise.
- Risk Management : Identify potential project risks and help develop strategies to mitigate them. Promote compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, schedules, and daily reports.
- Project Closeout : Support final project inspections, ensure punch list items are addressed, and assist with project handover to the client.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or a related field preferred.Previous experience as a Project Engineer in the construction industry, preferably with a general contractor.Solid understanding of treatment plant and / or infrastructure projects.Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.WMS welcomes people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and its reflected in our largely diverse community of WMS employees.
