Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Title : Speech-Language Pathologist

Location : Lincoln, NE

Department : Rehab

Reports to : Director of Rehab

Position Type : PRN

Job Summary :

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Brookside , a leading skilled nursing facility. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in our diverse resident population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.

Work Environment :

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities :

Assessment and Evaluation :

o Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive

communication, and swallowing disorders.

o Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.

  • Treatment and Intervention :

o Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.

o Adapt treatment techniques to meet the specific needs and goals of each resident.

  • Documentation and Reporting :
  • o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes.

    o Prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and their families.

    Collaboration and Teamwork :

    o Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, to provide holistic care.

    o Participate in care planning meetings and contribute to the development of care strategies for residents.

    Education and Training :

    o Provide education and training to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

    o Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.

    Compliance and Standards :

    o Adhere to facility policies, state, and federal regulations, and professional standards of practice.

    o Ensure all practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.

    Qualifications :

    Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

    Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Nebraska.

    Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.

    Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

    Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.

    Physical Requirements :

    Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance.

    Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.

    Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess and interact with residents.
