Job description

Allient-Rochester specializes in advanced motion control and integrated automation solutions that serve OEMs across industries such as aerospace & defense, medical, semiconductor equipment, e-mobility & logistics, industrial automation, and packaging. We are currently seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to grow our drives, controls, mechatronic integration, and value-add automation solutions business. This position will play a key role as Allient Rochester introduces a new line of high-performance DC servo drive and control products. The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in positioning these offerings within target markets, identifying early adopters, and establishing application wins that demonstrate the capabilities of these new technologies within integrated automation systems.  Apply now!

Responsibilities :

  • Expanding business with current control system customers who rely on Allient’s specialized and customized controls.
  • Identifying and developing new OEM relationships that require mechatronic sub-systems and integrated automation using motors, drives, and controls from Allient’s family of businesses.
  • Identify, prospect, and cultivate opportunities with OEMs, machine builders, and integrators who need automation and motion sub-systems.
  • Create and execute strategic growth plans aligned with Allient-Rochester’s automation integration capabilities.
  • Deeply understand customer automation challenges and propose customized solutions leveraging Allient’s motion, control, and system-level expertise.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to architect and present technical solutions that include both standard and customized components.
  • Drive sales activities from lead generation and discovery to proposal development, negotiation, and close.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals, quotes, and bid packages tailored to customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data and forecasting using CRM tools (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and competitor offerings to position Allient effectively.
  • Ensure smooth project transitions to project management and engineering teams upon order.
  • Report regularly on progress and market development activities to senior leadership.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or related field).
  • At least 5 years of business development, sales, or technical consulting experience in motion control, custom automation, or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proven track record of identifying customer needs and delivering value-add technical solutions.
  • Strong technical knowledge of motion systems, servo drives, automation components, and control architectures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills for working with both technical and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Results-driven with demonstrated success meeting sales goals and opening new accounts.
  • Skilled in using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including frequent visits to the Rochester, NY site.
