Title : Assistant Health and Fitness Manager - Community Center
Status : Full-time
Salary Range : $54,044 - $65,175 Description
The City of Fishers is hiring a full-time Assistant Health and Fitness Manager. This role assists the Health and Fitness Manager with day-to-day Health and Fitness programming at the City of Fishers Community Center. The Assistant Health and Fitness Manager will be responsible for maintaining safe conditions and a positive atmosphere that promotes member / citizen safety and engagement in accordance with City of Fishers policies and procedures.
Examples of Duties
- Assist in the planning, managing, and oversite of the health and fitness programs in alignment with strategic and operating plans, evaluating their effectiveness and participation levels and adjusting schedules and formats to enhance member retention and meet the diverse needs of the membership demographic.
- Provide supervisory assistance with hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff. Serve as a positive example to staff through actions and practices.
- Plan and lead exercise / activity sessions in one or more fitness areas to a wide range of clientele. When necessary, perform all duties and responsibilities of a fitness instructor.
- Assist in creating and distributing marketing material advertising program offerings.
- Maintain accurate program records and assemble and analyze data as required to prepare reports. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of certifications, training, and staff qualifications (e.g., CPR, in-service training) for all assigned staff.
- Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and staff.
- Act as Manager on Duty for some evening and weekend rotations.
- Participate in offsite events representing the community center as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to an associate’s degree in health, kinesiology, business, or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.Two (2) or more years of experience in the fitness industry.Experience providing a high level of customer service to diverse internal and external customers both in-person, online, and over the telephone.Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license with a record that allows the ability to be insured to drive a City vehicle.Must have the ability to obtain a nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (e.g. ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE) and / or Group Exercise Certification (e.g. ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE, Les Mills, Zumba, Mad Dogg Athletics, or other accredited organizations) within the first 60 days.Must have an Adult CPR / AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days.Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.Working at the Community Center
