About The Position

Job Title : Emergency Department Registered Nurse

License : Active Illinois license required.

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, PALS required; TNCC preferred.

Must-Have : General Emergency Department experience with combined adult and pediatric cases.

Description :

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides care for patients in an emergency setting.

Candidates must be able to work every other weekend.

Ratios in the unit are 1 : 4 for all shifts.

This emergency department serves approximately 65 visits per day with a 22-bed capacity.

Candidates will float if needed within their scope to meet facility needs.

Experience in cardiac monitoring and emergency response is required.

Skills in the interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias are necessary.

Candidates must be proficient in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure.

Obtaining a 12-lead EKG is a required skill.

IV therapy and phlebotomy skills are necessary, including blood product administration and central line care / management.

Candidates should be experienced in starting IVs and administering emergency medications.

Experience with continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors is essential.

Candidates must be familiar with pediatric cases involving abdominal pain, asthma, and respiratory infections.

Ability to identify and report abuse and manage mental / behavioral health conditions is required.

Neurological skills should include experience with cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs).

Candidates will need to manage acute psychosis and drug overdose cases.

Handling of violent behavior and suicidal patients is also part of the role.

Respiratory case skills must include chest tube insertion / management and care for ventilated patients.

Knowledge of isolation precautions and triage processes is necessary.

Experience using Cerner for charting purposes is required.

The facility is a Critical Access and Magnet hospital.

Applicants should have community hospital experience.
