Java Solutions Architect Houston (Hybrid 23 Days Onsite)

We are looking for an experienced Java Solutions Architect to lead the design and delivery of a cloud-native platform built on modern Java, AWS, microservices, and Kubernetes. This role is based in Houston with 23 days onsite and works closely with both client teams and offshore engineering groups. The position requires strong technical depth along with excellent coordination and leadership skills.

About the Role

You will own the architecture across multiple components including pricing services, APIs, data models, UI applications, deployment tooling, and integrations. You will guide teams on cloud-native patterns, containerization, security, performance, and automation. You will be the primary onsite contact for offshore teams and ensure smooth communication, clarity of requirements, and high-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Lead architecture for microservices, APIs, data models, and cloud-native applications

Design secure, scalable, and resilient systems on AWS (EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3)

Build containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes; define deployment models and standards

Establish architecture best practices, coding guidelines, and technical patterns

Create architecture diagrams, sequence flows, and documentation

Oversee CI / CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions and ensure strong release governance

Ensure compliance with audit, security, and traceability requirements

Drive automation across testing, deployment, configuration, and monitoring

Partner with product, QA, PMO, and vendor teams for end-to-end alignment

Act as the onsite bridge with offshore teams, review deliverables, unblock issues, and guide daily interactions

Support deployment, performance engineering, incident troubleshooting, and continuous improvements

Required Skills

Strong experience as a Java Architect or Solutions Architect

Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST API design

Hands-on AWS experience (EKS / ECS, EC2, VPC, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM)

Deep knowledge of Kubernetes (deployments, autoscaling, ingress, security, scaling)

CI / CD pipeline development using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Azure DevOps

Infrastructure as Code knowledge (Terraform or CloudFormation)

Experience with cloud and application design patterns (CQRS, Saga, event-driven design, caching, circuit breakers)

Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architecture principles

Experience working in an onshoreoffshore delivery model

Excellent communication and leadership skills
