Overview As a Multi-Axis Wire Form Technician, you will work with complex CNC wire forming equipment—including Herdon multi-axis machines and similar programmable systems—to produce high-precision custom wire forms. This role involves machine setup, tool installation, CNC adjustment, production monitoring, and troubleshooting. Structured on-the-job training will provide development in CNC programming fundamentals, multi-axis forming, tooling, blueprint reading, and ISO 9001 : 2015 inspection standards. Duties Set up, operate, and tear down CNC multi-axis wire forming machines Install and adjust tooling such as arbors, quills, guides, fingers, forming tools, and cutters Perform machine changeovers to support production schedules and product variation Operate Herdon multi-axis equipment and similar CNC wire-forming platforms Read and interpret blueprints, wire form drawings, and dimensional specifications Monitor production to ensure accuracy, consistency, and repeatability Make basic CNC program edits to improve performance or correct dimensional variation Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, load testers, and laser measuring tools Complete SPC reports, inspection sheets, and production documentation Collaborate with EN Department leadership to improve tooling life and setup optimization Diagnose and resolve mechanical or tooling-related issues to maintain production flow Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment while following all safety protocols Follow ISO 9001 : 2015 quality and inspection procedures throughout production On-the-Job Training Will Include Setup and operation of Herdon and other CNC multi-axis wire forming machines (3–10 axes) Understanding axis movement sequencing and timing for complex multi-plane wire forms Forming round, square, stainless steel, music wire, and specialty alloy materials Producing advanced geometries such as hooks, loops, bends, clips, and custom multi-bend forms Tooling preparation and maintenance including grinding, fitting, and adjustment of arbors, guides, quills, and forming tools CNC parameter adjustment, program interpretation, and troubleshooting fundamentals Operation of servo-driven wire feed systems, straighteners, rotating turrets, coiling heads, and forming modules Heat treating and stress-relieving procedures for shaped wire components ISO 9001 : 2015 inspection processes including digital indicator readings, dimensional inspection, and load / force measurement Blueprint reading, GD&T basics, tolerance interpretation, and dimensional verification Preventative maintenance practices to maximize machine reliability and accuracy Experience & Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude with interest in CNC machinery and precision manufacturing Comfortable using hand tools, measurement tools, and machine shop equipment Basic computer literacy for working with CNC interfaces and production software Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn complex equipment Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment Previous CNC, wire forming, or spring manufacturing experience helpful but not required Hiring Process All new hires are processed through a temp agency during their first 500 work hours. A drug test and background check are required as part of this process. This arrangement does not impact take-home pay—Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc. covers all fees. Upon completing the 500-hour period, employees will be evaluated for full-time hire based on performance, attendance, quality, and overall fit with the EN Department and company standards.
