As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care within our nursing unit. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager / Clinical Coordinator, you will also provide guidance to non-RN personnel and may take on charge roles as necessary. Flexibility to work across various nursing units may be required. We are seeking individuals who can contribute to maintaining a high level of service and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Continuously assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout their continuum of care.
- Develop, communicate, and document a personalized plan of care that addresses individual patient issues and desired outcomes, involving the patient, family, and healthcare team in the process.
- Implement and coordinate the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, assessing the patient's response to treatment and readiness for discharge, revising the plan as needed and making further referrals as indicated.
- Plan and provide educational opportunities for patients and families, documenting outcomes based on individual learning needs.
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff members.
- Occasionally function as a charge nurse, delegating and supervising unit activities.
- Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
- Exhibit competency in neuro patient care and airway management.
- Assist in the care of trached patients and during special neuro procedures.
- Demonstrate understanding and application of our 'TIA' teaching program.
- Perform pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning according to established policies.
- Demonstrate the use of equipment and care for patients in a Halo brace and those on ventilators.
Qualifications
Education : Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software including electronic patient records and capable of conducting internet literature searches regarding patient care.
Experience : N / A
Licensure : Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut.
Special Skills : BLS certification required.
