About The Position
Job Title : Ultrasound Technologist
Profession : Diagnostic Imaging

Shift : May need to cover day or night shift, and on-call
Hours per Shift : Guaranteed hours to be discussed
Experience : Minimum 2 years
License : Current ARRT in Radiography OR Current ARDMS in one category (Abd or OB / GYN)
Certifications : BLS certification required within 45 days of hire
Must-Have : Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years
Description :
The Ultrasound Technologist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs.
Must provide professional diagnostic ultrasound examinations of all requested body parts for diagnostic interpretation.
The role requires the exercise of professional judgment in the performance of procedures while applying principles of radiation protection.
Responsibilities include maintaining patient records and files, and pursuing continuing education for skill enhancement.
The Ultrasound Technologist must be able to transfer patients to and from imaging areas and perform ancillary duties as requested.
In the absence of a supervisor, the Ultrasound Technologist assumes responsibility for the department.
Must be able to work well in situations of stress and maintain competency in ancillary modalities.
Willingness to perform other duties as assigned is essential.
The role requires performing requested ultrasound exams for diagnostic interpretation by a radiologist.
It is vital to maintain care of equipment and ensure the neatness of the work area.
The Ultrasound Technologist participates in the preparation of department policies and procedures.
Consultation with referring physicians and assisting with ultrasound invasive procedures are part of the responsibilities.
Education and ongoing professional development in the field of ultrasound are encouraged.
Skills in performing venipuncture and knowledge of imaging protocols are necessary.
The Ultrasound Technologist must actively pursue accreditation requirements and maintain records of mammography and ultrasound procedures performed.
Maintaining equipment and ensuring compliance with safety standards is essential to the role.
The Ultrasound Technologist will assist in ensuring the organizational goals and objectives are met efficiently.
The position requires attending department meetings, in-services, and disaster drills as necessary.
