Planner III
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Planner III, in Chantilly, VA.
Coordinates and schedules the movement of materials, work orders and assemblies through the manufacturing process. Ensures production alignment with demand by creating and maintaining accurate schedules, monitoring inventory levels and resolving shortages. Will collaborate closely with procurement, materials and engineering teams to achieve on time delivery and efficient workflow. Oracle knowledge strongly encouraged - challenging high mix / low volume environment with equal mix of NPI and existing production.
As a Planner in the Defense & Aerospace industry, your primary responsibility will be to ensure efficient planning and scheduling of activities related to defense and aerospace projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management, to develop and execute comprehensive plans that meet project objectives and customer requirements. Your role will involve analyzing data, coordinating resources, monitoring progress, and mitigating risks to ensure successful project execution within defined timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Planning and Scheduling : Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets, considering project goals, resource availability, and customer requirements. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, and milestones. Identify critical path activities and potential bottlenecks, and develop contingency plans to address project risks.
- Resource Coordination : Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely availability of resources, including manpower, materials, equipment, and facilities. Monitor resource utilization and capacity to optimize productivity and avoid schedule conflicts. Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure the availability of necessary materials and components for project execution.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting : Monitor project progress against established plans, schedules, and budgets. Identify deviations, delays, or potential issues and implement corrective actions to minimize impact on project timelines. Generate regular reports on project status, milestones achieved, and any risks or issues that may affect project outcomes.
- Risk Management : Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project timelines, cost, or quality. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize the impact of risks on project execution. Regularly review and update risk management plans and communicate them to relevant stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement : Analyze project performance data to identify areas for improvement in planning, scheduling, and execution processes. Collaborate with the project team to implement process enhancements and best practices. Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to defense and aerospace projects.
Qualifications and Skills :
Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related field. A relevant master's degree is a plus. Prior experience in defense and aerospace industries, preferably in planning, project management, or related roles. Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of defense and aerospace industry regulations, standards, and best practices. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work under tight deadlines.
