Position Overview :

We are seeking an Apprentice Diesel Technician and a skilled Journeyman Diesel Technician to join our team in Denver, CO. This role is crucial for maintaining and repairing our fleet vehicles, ensuring they are in top condition to support our operations.

  • The standard hourly rate for this position is $26.36 to max hourly rate of $37.66 per hour. Dependent on length of service, certifications and hours worked and terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include healthcare, sick pay, PTO / Vacation pay and retirement benefits. pension and / or 401k eligibility.
  • Payrate is subject to shift, education and certification differentials.
  • Weekends as the business needs requires them.
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
  • Position Summary

    As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems on a variety of vehicles and equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and systems, including brakes, steering, transmissions, and electrical systems on Class 8 Tractor Trailers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative services to ensure vehicle performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Service and repair refrigeration (reefer) units, ensuring they operate at peak efficiency.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot engine and system issues.
  • Fabricate and weld critical suspension and chassis components
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and inspections conducted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding repair status and recommendations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Truck Diesel Mechanic.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Certification or vocational training in diesel mechanics (ASE Certification preferred).
  • Reefer certification - EPA 608 / 609 preferred.
  • Diagnostic skills preferred (ThermoKing, Carrier, Bendix -ABS, Volvo, Cummins and Allison)
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine components, reefer systems, and repair techniques.
  • Must possess adequate hand, pneumatic and electric tools required to perform routine repairs and maintenance.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B preferred.
  • State Inspection License a plus
  • Welding certification is a plus.
  • Complies with DOT / OHSA / EAP regulations as it pertains to their area of responsibility and ensures Distribution Center is in compliance with company, local, state & federal regulations.
  • Ability to work with supervisor and other technicians to coordinate and prioritize work in the shop.
  • Physical Requirements / Environment :

  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to reach and grab tools and equipment.
  • Stand and / or walk on concrete surfaces, and one place for extended periods of time in various environments.
  • Climbing to heights of more than 24 inches with the use of a ladder and / or other climbing apparatus

    The pay range is $26.36 to $37.66 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement but no less than the local minimum wage. Additional premiums for swing and grave shifts are available. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO / Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and / or 401(k) eligibility).
