SUMMARY : Identifies, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats speech, voice, fluency and language disorders and disabilities through direct intervention, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and other related service providers to provide the student skills and access required to benefit from their educational experience. Duties are to be performed in accordance with district policies and procedures and applicable state laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Diagnoses and identifies students with articulation, voice, fluency (stuttering) and / or language delays and disorders using standardized, norm referenced test instruments to include determining type and severity of disordersDevelops speech and language treatment plans to include determining goals, objectives, methods, materials, frequency, duration, and accommodations / modifications to affected student's educational environmentDesigns, implements and develops activities and original instructional aids which are relevant, which enhance the effectiveness of instruction, and address treatment plans to include determining appropriate number of activities, and scheduling activitiesConsults and provides ideas to teachers and parents regarding speech and language development and disorders to include determining the needs of the childProvides direct therapy and instruction to students to include analyzing, reviewing, and revising student progress and communicating with teachers and parents; prepares therapy space for instructionPrepares paperwork and reports, to include compliance with state and federal guidelines including all relevant informationDevelops a variety of instructional strategies by maintaining current knowledge of standards and current practices in the field by consulting with current resource material, colleagues, and conferences; contributes to the professional growth of colleaguesSubmits Medicaid billing as requiredDeals sensitively with confidential informationRefers individuals to community agencies to secure additional resources and services for child and familyServes as consultant to staff, the school board, the Superintendent, administrative committees, and parent teacher groups in matters involving speech services within the educational system or schoolMay oversee individual duties and responsibilities of teaching staff as pertains to designing and / or following student IEPsAttends staff, professional, and interagency meetingsCooperates with community health and social welfare programsIs involved in the planning and development of additional district speech pathology servicesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writingKnowledge of current accepted practices in the field of speech pathologyKnowledge of data usage, including collection, analysis, interpretation, and reportingAbility to do perform multiple administrative functions simultaneouslyAbility to do mathematical computationsAbility to maintain confidentialityProduce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervisionAbility to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situationsAbility to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community membersKnowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policiesAbility to handle confrontation and conflict with professionalismQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :
Education & Experience :
Master's degree or higherArizona School Speech Pathologist CertificationArizona Department of Health Services LicenseCertificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) preferredPrior professional experienceCriminal justice / Fingerprint clearanceComputer Proficiency : Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Suite.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Indoor school environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff, external agencies and the public.
