Job description

Job Summary

LNSD Aeolian Elementary 5th Grade Teacher :

Provides an educational program for assigned elementary students, assists in other elementary grade programs, and performs other related duties as agreed upon.

INITIAL POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possesses an earned Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major emphasis on elementary education and / or including courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  • Possesses a valid CA teaching credential in the area or level of assignment.

GOALS OF EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE

  • Creates a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth and to establish effective rapport with students in their classroom.
  • Motivates students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation in basic skills.
  • Maintains high performance standards and expectations of students in the classroom.
  • Establishes and maintains a good collaborative relationship between the home and the school.

    • SELECTED DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides learning experiences and instructs pupils in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, performing arts, health and physical education in a classroom setting.
  • Utilizes an adopted course of study, program guides and a variety of other materials in developing lesson planning and teaching outlines.
  • Utilizes a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing pupils, including subject matter instruction, demonstration, lecture and activity participation.
  • Utilizes a variety of specialized educational equipment, materials, books and learning aids.
  • Teaches and instructs students in citizenship and other subject matter specified by legal mandates, District policies and regulations.
