Unit Overview :
Become a vital part of our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit where you'll care for a diverse patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, plus medical overflow cases.Experience exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care as part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII).

Assess patient needs, implement interventions, and evaluate effectiveness of care plans, involving patients and families throughout.Recognize significant changes in patient conditions, adjust care plans as necessary, and collaborate with healthcare team members.Implement patient safety strategies and individualize learning approaches for patients and families.Facilitate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach.Support shared governance activities to improve processes and patient outcomes.Communicate effectively and delegate appropriately within the care team.Identify and intervene in patient safety threats and report incidents timely.Engage in ethical decision-making and participate as a care team member to provide integrated and unbiased care.Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance department functions and patient experiences.Engage in professional development activities to enhance personal and team growth.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Current Registered Nurse license for the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited or approved Nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing frequently throughout the workday.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform sliding transfers as necessary.May be exposed to chemicals, hazardous waste, and fluid materials requiring protective gear.Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with necessary fine motor skills for procedures.This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
