Job description

Job Summary : The Communications Marketing Specialist is pivotal in supporting both internal and external communication efforts and ensuring that all messaging aligns with our organization's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Development : Writes and edits a wide variety of materials, including proposals, press releases, articles, newsletters, website content, social media posts, and brochures.
  • Proposal Management : Manages and leads the response process for qualifications and proposals. This includes : strategy development, organizing the response, gathering information, writing and editing content, overseeing design and layout, and managing production.
  • Strategic Communication : Assists in developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies that elevate our brand and messaging.
  • Media Relations : Supports media outreach efforts, including drafting press releases, coordinating with media contacts, and tracking coverage.
  • Email Marketing : Assists with the creation and distribution of email marketing campaigns that drive engagement and inform stakeholders.
  • Editorial Oversight : Applies strong copy-editing skills to ensure consistency in voice, tone, and accuracy across all materials.
  • Project Management : Balances multiple deadlines and priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration : Works closely with internal teams and external partners to develop effective, audience-appropriate communications.

Essential Skills

  • Strong Writing and Editing : Proven ability to proficiently produce clear, concise, and engaging content for a variety of audiences. Experience writing grants is a plus.
  • Strong Copy-Editing Abilities : Keen eye for grammar, punctuation, consistency, and clarity.
  • Excellent Communication : Comfortable communicating with internal teams, leadership, and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Digital Tools : Experience using content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, social media scheduling tools, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office.
  • Organizational and Project Management : Exceptional time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Presentation Ability to present ideas and strategies clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

    Preferred Requirements and Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience managing RFP / RFQ responses or business development proposals.
  • Comfort with basic design tools or coordinating with designers.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Must have the ability to work sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time and focus for long durations.
  • Must communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing and have the ability to hear and understand others
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and / or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
