The facility has received an A grade for safety, reflecting its commitment to protecting patients. Client has earned Magnet Designation for nursing excellence. The hospital serves as a referral center for trauma, stroke care, and neonatal intensive care. It hosts the only children’s hospital in the region, with a pediatric emergency room and multiple subspecialties. The unit consists of 9 beds, with a patient ratio of 1 RN to 1-2 patients in PICU and 1 RN to 2-3 patients in stepdown. Support staff includes a health unit coordinator and a shared tech, ensuring smooth operations. Key equipment used includes Alaris pumps and documentation is done through Cerner. Scheduling requires working 3 weekends within a 6-week schedule. Staff may float to pediatrics and neonatal intensive care when necessary. Advanced clinical skills practiced include IV starts, central line dressing changes, and ventilator management. Additionally, the unit conducts ICP monitoring, trach care, tube feeding, and hemodynamic monitoring. The dress code includes navy and white uniforms, either all navy, all white, or navy pants with white tops. The unit promotes a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional growth.
