• Position Details : The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Physician Assistant to join a very enthusiastic team in the Trauma / Acute Care Surgical Services unit. The hospital has achieved Level III designation for trauma. The successful candidate will be responsible for various functions including trauma activations, evaluating patients in the emergency room, rounding, bedside procedures, and trauma consults. APPs will work in collaboration with a number of Acute Care Surgeons. The service will work in conjunction with other subspecialties including’s but not limited to Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Vascular, ENT, and Plastics.

• Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners Role Scope :
• Under established guidelines and in collaboration and / or supervision with the practice physician(s), Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients. In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists. Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physicians. Qualifications - External Requirements : Licensure : Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible) Training : Physician Assistant Preferred Requirements : Experience : 3 years working with trauma or surgical patients is preferred.
