About The Position

Job Title : RN - CVICU

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience

License : Valid RN license

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have :

• Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
• Cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation
• Arterial lines and titration of drips
• Ventilator care
• Vascular lines, chest tubes or drains
• Immediate post open heart experience
• Advanced cardiac support including Impella / IABP
• Advanced hemodynamics including Swan and temporary pacemaker

Description :

RN position in a cardiovascular intensive care unit.

Responsible for the care of patients requiring advanced hemodynamics and continuous monitoring.

Patient types include those with myocardial infarctions or undergoing cardiac interventional procedures.

Caring for general, vascular, or thoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, or hemodynamic support.

Includes pharmacological vasopressor support and intra-aortic balloon pump assistance.

Experience with respiratory compromise and failure requiring medium or high flow oxygen devices.

Cases include renal failure with continuous renal replacement therapy capabilities.

Handling severe sepsis and hemodynamic instability with IV resuscitation.

Management of cardiac arrest requiring targeted temperature management.

Also responsible for neuro medical cases including strokes and traumatic falls.

Patients may require management of DKA / HHNK with insulin drips.

Patient ratios are 1 : 2 for ICU care and 1 : 1 for high acuity scenarios.

During overflow, ratios may vary from 1 : 3 to 1 : 4 depending on interventions required.

Support from nurse techs and charge nurses available.

Continuous cardiac monitoring is the responsibility of the RN.

Technology utilized includes electronic medical records and advanced monitoring equipment.

Floating may occur within critical care divisions.

Expectations include working 75% of holidays and rotating weekends.

Unit culture is positive and team-focused, emphasizing collaboration.
