DutiesThe Head Teaching Assistant (Head TA) is responsible for coordinating and supporting all Teaching Assistants (TAs) assigned to the course, including those involved in labs, tutorials, marking, and invigilation (LTMI-TAs). The Head TA will oversee their performance and conduct, assign and schedule tasks, prepare the necessary documentations regarding TA duties, and provide training and guidance when needed. The Head TA ensures the smooth operation of all course components, including labs, tutorials, tests, and examinations, and responds to student inquiries related to administrative matters such as course platform access, lab / tutorial procedures, missed assessments, and remark requests. The Head TA will also participate in online discussion forums (e.g., Piazza), assign tutorial questions, coordinate room assignments for in-person tests, and manage the preparation, printing, distribution, and processing of test and exam materials (including Crowdmark setup and QR codes). Additional responsibilities include collecting and integrating marks for all assessments, assisting instructors with homework assignment planning, supporting the preparation and maintenance of course materials on Quercus, contributing to the calculation and finalization of course grades, and attending regular instructional team meetings. The Head TA may also be assigned other related duties as required to support the effective delivery and administration of the course. Minimum Qualifications Possess and demonstrate expertise in the subject matter and have experience teaching (or serving as a teaching assistant in) in this or a similar course. The successful candidate must demonstrate a track record of professionalism and aptitude for instruction. Preferred Qualifications Proficient knowledge in the physics of electricity and magnetism and circuit analysis. Must have prior experience as Head TA for very large courses.Relevant CriterionPrevious experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
