Mortgage Consumer Loan Underwriting Associate

Job Description

SUMMARY

This position is designated for entry level candidates / recent college graduates who are passionate about developing a career in consumer loan underwriting (mortgage, home equity loans / lines). This role offers exposure to the home loan lending industry and real estate with opportunities for growth. Training will be provided.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

• Make credit decisions on conventional mortgage and home equity loan applications.
• Review income, asset, credit and appraisal documents.
• Provide support to the senior underwriting staff by reviewing loan conditions regarding credit, income, and collateral risk.
• Work within specified time frames to assist in closing loans in a timely manner.
• Maintains the confidentiality of the information reviewed.
• Maintains and improves personal knowledge and skills.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Analyzing risk and requesting additional documentation as necessary.
• Staying up to date agency guidelines, products and recent regulatory changes.
