Director Of Community Services
The Director of Community Services has overall, primary responsibility for the day-to-day provision of services and program operations of the Family Support Services programs. These programs include Home Community Based Waiver Services, such as Day Habilitation without Walls, Family Support Services Reimbursement, Respite, and Community Disabilities (I / DD) with structured, meaningful activities / resources that promote personal growth, social interaction, and community involvement. The program enhances the quality of life for participants by helping them develop essential life skills, fostering independence, and encouraging active participation in their communities. The program maintains and provides individuals with an experience and standards in keeping with their Orthodox Jewish identity.
The Director of Community Services at Mishkon oversees the day-to-day operations of the family Support Services programs. This includes developing and coordinating HCBS services, ensuring compliance with OPWDD regulations, and promoting person-centered planning and community integration. Using the Person-Centered Planning approach, the Director of Community Services develops and coordinates activities and resources for individuals both on and off site in order to provide an enriching person-centered environment connected to each individual's life plan goals. The Director of Community Services hires, supervises and professionally grows Family Support Services staff, and liaises with clients, advocates, and other service providers on an ongoing basis for continuity of support. They conduct outreach, maintain census, oversee scheduling, ensure timely and proper billing and documentation, and are responsible for other administrative duties.
Key Essential Functions
Core competencies include demonstrated success working with the I / DD population, knowledge of Orthodox Jewish cultural practices and heritage, strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, commitment to providing high-quality and safe care with a person-centered approach, and solution-focused enthusiasm and creativity.
Educational / Training Required : Master's degree in human services, social work or psychology. Experience Required : At least 4 years working with individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities. At least 2 years of supervisory experience. Computer skills required include navigating Microsoft Office programs, an Electronic Health Record, and other computer programs. Visual and manual dexterity are necessary for reviewing treatment plans, documenting daily logs, and working with clients on activities.
The work environment / physical effort includes the ability to travel in the community with individuals, involving walking, navigating stairs, and movement to respond to crises and emergencies, including helping individuals evacuate. The position may entail lifting clients using a mechanical device or lifting 50lbs, positioning of client, pushing client in wheelchair, and transferring client physically where prescribed. The position regularly requires sitting for part of the day.
