ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TECHNICIAN

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TECHNICIAN

As an Environmental Field Technician, your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. People skills are essential as you interact regularly with contractors, owner representatives, and clientele. Our mission is to complete work safely, on time, and on budget, which makes our clients happy and provides a great sense of accomplishment to our staff. Under the supervision of a Project Manager, you provide support on a wide range of environmental projects including but are not limited to :

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on environmental remediation systems, such as soil vapor extraction (SVE), air sparging, dual-phase extraction, pump-and-treat systems, and groundwater treatment units.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, blowers, motors, valves, filters, air compressors, control panels, piping, and instrumentation.
  • Conduct system inspections and monitor operational parameters to ensure consistent performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with system startups, shutdowns, and upgrades as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection checklists, and service reports.
  • Support environmental sampling activities as needed (e.g., groundwater, soil vapor, influent / effluent).
  • Work with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to support system modifications or new installations.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed in accordance with company policies, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Operate basic power tools.
  • Perform groundwater, soil, and air sampling as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TECHNICIAN

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school certificate or associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with mechanical systems, pumps, or HVAC-environmental or industrial remediation experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, EPA standards) is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Self-starter, quick learner and effective communicator
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work consecutive long days in the field under varying adverse weather conditions

    WORK SCHEDULE

    This full-time Technician position typically works Monday - Friday with occasional traveling and weekend work.
