Transportation Project Designer - Springfield or Joplin

Location : Southwest District Office, 3025 E. Kearney Street, Springfield, MO or the Joplin Regional Office, 2915 S. Doughboy Drive, Joplin, MO.

Direct and lead a team of designers and technicians in preparing detailed transportation construction plans, specifications, and estimates.

Ensure designs comply with department standards and requirements.

Supervise preparation of construction plans and job special provisions, evaluate project needs and allocate resources.

Supervise design personnel, handling employment decisions, training, and performance management.

Check and review plans for accuracy and compliance with standards and accepted practices for bridge surveys and preliminary, right‑of‑way, final, and consultant plans.

Provide design expertise to project core teams and participate in project scoping.

Review consultant‑prepared plans and advise on right‑of‑way activity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university.

Successful completion of the Engineer‑in‑Training exam.

Six years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.

Special Working Conditions

Job requires district‑wide and / or statewide travel.
