Medical Director of Primary Care

Northern Counties Health Care is seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Director to lead our Primary Care team in Saint Johnsbury, VT. This key leadership role provides strategic oversight, mentorship, and operational guidance to our clinical staff, working closely with senior leadership to support our mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities :

Serve as a liaison between medical staff and senior leadership, participating in regular leadership meetings and initiatives.

Oversee provider performance reviews, credentialing, privileging, and peer review processes.

Lead provider meetings, offer mentoring and clinical education, and support onboarding of new clinical staff.

Guide primary care operations, including workflow improvements, new program development, and productivity monitoring.

Collaborate with finance, billing, and operations teams to review financial statements and address provider billing or coding concerns.

Provide clinical leadership in informatics and quality, supporting EHR enhancements, quality initiatives, and compliance.

Serve as clinical advisor to the Board of Directors and offer input on organizational policy and strategy.

Deliver direct patient care intermittently or as outlined in the employment agreement.

Supervise the Assistant Medical Director and Clinical Lead to Quality, and support collaboration across hospital and community partners.

Qualifications :

Education : Medical Degree (MD / DO), Nurse Practitioner Degree (MSN / DNP), or Physician Assistant Degree (PA-C); board certified and licensed in the State of Vermont; valid DEA license.

Experience : Minimum of five years clinical experience required.

Skills : Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; knowledge of healthcare regulations (FQHC, ACOs), clinical quality, compliance, and informatics. Ability to build and support multidisciplinary teams.

Range : $53.31 - $119.65
