A Glimpse of the Job
The FBS Assistant Director, under general direction, assists the Director in all aspects of Texas A&M Centralized Finance and Business Services departmental operations and maintains responsibility for a major functional unit(s) within a department.
Essential Duties and Tasks :
- Participates in planning, directing, and coordinating operational or procedural matters to meet department goals and objectives
- Monitors compliance with all unit, department, University, and government standards, policies, and procedures
- Handles special projects as assigned by the Director
Reporting and Analysis
Develops reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by DirectorParticipates in developing departmental strategic plans based on department goalsLeadership and Planning
Assists Director in planning and budgeting for departmentDevelops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates programsProvides leadership for department along with and in absence of the DirectorHandles special projects as assigned by the DirectorProvides supervision and guidance to a team or departmental sub-unit(s)Department Specific
Leads functional unit within Financial Management Operations responsible for auditing all Travel and Non-Travel transactionsSupervises assigned staff and student employees, including training new staff or training staff on new processes. Designs and initiates trainingImplements and oversees Oversight. Works with FMO staff in College Station to fine tune high risks and develop consistent methods of dealing with potential fraud and identifying additional training needs. This includes exceptions found on the payment and travel cards, and out of pocket expensesManage customer service volume. Ensure helpdesk email and phone calls from customers are responded to and resolved in a timely mannerManage unapplied transaction escalationsCoordinate audit requests, which includes pulling documentation, reviewing prior to providing to auditorsAdministers Emburse and Oversight system for TAMUS system members, and coordinates updates and changes with other system member business officesServe as a training resource for TAMU and shared service membersAssist director in the management of travel program, and travel vendor relationshipsWhat you need to know
Salary : $115,000

Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceSix years of related experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
