Job Title : Quality Director – Aerospace Machining

Location : Longmont, Colorado

We are a leading precision machining company specializing in aerospace and high-tolerance prototyping work. With a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and lean processes, we are seeking a highly experienced Quality Director to lead our quality lab and ensure compliance with ISO and AS9100 standards.

Position Summary :

The Quality Director will oversee all aspects of the Quality Management System, ensuring that internal processes, audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives meet stringent industry requirements. This person will lead the quality team and collaborate with machinists, engineers, and customers to drive continuous improvement and uphold our reputation for excellence in prototype manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the Quality Lab team, including inspectors and quality technicians
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to identify top-priority projects and ensure quality targets are met
  • Oversee and perform internal and external audits, including AS9100 compliance
  • Ensure Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), First Article Inspections (FAIRs), in-process, and final inspections meet internal and customer standards
  • Manage and execute CMM inspections and programming
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all quality processes

Must-Have Qualifications :

  • Proven experience in quality management (lead, manager, or director level)
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards within a machine shop environment
  • Hands-on experience with CMM inspection and CMM programming
  • Strong background in tight-tolerance machining; aerospace experience strongly preferred
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with quality tools such as SPC, root cause analysis, and GD&T
  • Experience supporting customer audits and working closely with OEMs
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
