Lincoln Center and Secondary Building Job Summary

Speech-language pathologists provide a complete array of services to students with identified communication challenges, including students whose primary disability is "speech-language impairment" and students with primary disabilities who have needs in the area of communication. This position will serve students in our elementary and secondary settings.

Employee Group : Teachers

FLSA status : Exempt

Reports to : Director of Student Services and Building Principal(s)

Salary Range : $44,929 - $102,918

Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teachers' Collectively Bargained Agreement.

Job Functions

Assessment & Evaluation :

  • Conduct assessments, create comprehensive report results, and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of special education eligibility as well as mandated timelines.

Intervention & Therapy :

  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services in individual and small-group settings.
  • Develop and implement educational plans as described on individual IEP or IFSP and train building staff as needed.
  • Implement the use of augmentative and assistive technology devices for communication.
  • Collaboration & Consultation :

  • Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
  • Support the district's mission, vision and values.
  • Contribute to and participate in the building student support teams.
  • Serve as an IEP case manager for students with speech-language impairments.
  • Facilitate team meetings to review student progress and develop IEPs as related to student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
  • Collaborate with students, families, related service providers, outside agencies, and other team members to promote growth of each student.
  • Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building training as needed.
  • Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
  • Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of general education curriculum including the grade level outcomes and state standards.
  • Participate in building and district level professional development activities.
  • Documentation & Compliance :

  • Adhere to federal and state statutes and rules related to individualized service, third party billing, and due process.
  • Maintain appropriate records and reports. Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet all required timelines.
  • Determine and complete purchase orders for supplies, materials, and equipment based on student needs.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by the Director of Student Services and / or the Building Principal.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required :

  • Minnesota State licensure in Speech and Language.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) - ASHA Certification.
  • Ability to travel between sites as needed.
  • Excellent technology skills.
  • Commitment to working effectively with culturally, economically and socially diverse students and families.
  • Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  • Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance
  • Physical Requirements

    Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required including close vision.
