Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring an active IL RN license, strong ortho background, and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Med / Surg Tele unit of an acute care hospital
  • Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 18 : 45 to 07 : 15
  • Staff-to-patient ratio of 1 : 5-6
  • Patient population includes general med / surg and orthopedic cases, with frequent ortho totals and fracture management
  • Required to float within service lines and to affiliated hospitals as needed
  • Every other weekend is required
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to a med / surg and ortho patient population using telemetry monitoring
  • Must be willing to float within hospital and to nearby affiliated locations within the same service line
  • No on-call is required for this position
  • No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed during a 13-week contract, and none during the first week
  • Position is part of a Magnet hospital environment
  • Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing for masks, with no exceptions
  • Free parking is available on site
  • Candidates are required to complete all modules and orientation as scheduled

    • Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required for consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience required
  • Proficiency in orthopedic total joint and fracture care required
  • BCLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • Candidates must not be current or recent permanent employees (at least one year gap required before returning as a traveler)
  • No local candidates within the 75-mile radius will be considered
  • First-time travelers are accepted
