Veterinary Treatment Facility Position

This position is located at the Fort Irwin Veterinary Treatment Facility. Responsibilities include receiving telephone calls and visitors, determining the nature of calls or visits, obtaining identifying information, verifying the patient's eligibility for treatment, and updating the existing medical record or preparing new records. Schedules appointments, completes client admission forms, screens or updates medical records, reviews discharge information or handouts with clients, maintains clinic cleanliness, dispenses medications, annotates prescriptions, refills prescriptions according to policies and procedures, completes bi-weekly payroll reports, prepares and submits required end of month reports, assists with preparation of the yearly clinical budget, initiates personnel actions at the direction of management, monitors and replenishes inventory, receives payments for services rendered, balances cash and checks daily, makes daily bank deposits, processes purchasing documents, and serves as clinic ordering official and Government Purchase Cardholder.

Requirements include progressive work experience demonstrating the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position, basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Suite or equivalent, experience in using a point of sales software, basic arithmetic expertise to balance cash draw, accept payments and provide change accurately, and typing proficiency of 40 WPM. Highly preferred qualifications include clerical experience in a Veterinary Clinic or equivalent or working in an outpatient medical facility / operations as clerical-administrative support.

Salary is pro-rated based on a 40 hour work week. Hourly salary is : NF-03 $21.46ph ($44,790pa). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
