Technical Accounting (Revenue) Consultant

Our client, a global leader in the tech industry, is seeking a Technical Revenue Recognition Consultant to provide interim leadership and technical accounting expertise during a high-volume season. This position offers a unique opportunity to step into a hands-on, high-impact role supporting new product launches including complex revenue arrangements and contract reviews. The ideal consultant has deep technical revenue recognition experience, thrives in ambiguous environments, and can review the work of senior accountants while collaborating with business partners across multiple product lines.

Compensation : $75–$90 per hour (actual compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications).

Work Arrangement : 3–6 months.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical revenue leadership and interim support during peak operational periods.
  • Review complex customer and partner contracts to identify performance obligations, determine SSPs, and assess principal vs. agent relationships.
  • Guide and review the work of senior accountants and support staff on journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed workbooks.
  • Collaborate with finance and business partners to evaluate the accounting impact of new product launches and third-party agreements.
  • Support compliance and technical documentation for revenue accounting processes.
  • Apply revenue recognition concepts across multiple product types and business models (beyond traditional SaaS products).
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely revenue reporting.

Candidate Qualifications

Required :

  • Active or inactive CPA; Big 4 background strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at the Manager or Senior Manager level.
  • Strong technical revenue recognition expertise (performance obligations, SSP, principal vs. agent, contract review).
  • Proven ability to work through ambiguity and apply accounting concepts across diverse and complex business scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify technical concepts for business partners.

  • Technology industry experience.
  • Broader technical accounting background beyond revenue.
  • Blend of public and private company experience.
