Job description

Trainee Job Title

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Generate, compile and analyze various reports based on department / unit needs across various human resources systems
  • Assist in presentation creation and delivery of training workshops
  • Create survey forms / questionnaires and track responses of participants
  • Manage and maintain various excel reports, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Assist with tracking Career Mobility Workshops and Unit analysis
  • Ensure reports are accurate and delivered on time to relevant stakeholders and management
  • Update and maintain SharePoint Recruitment, Career Mobility and Exit Interview files
  • Process and track 55 b / c Human Resources transactions, such as promotions, transfers and new hires
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to data management of designated evaluation folders and miscellaneous projects as requested

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title; OR
  • One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
  • Titles eligible for transfer include, but aren't limited to : Administrative Assistant 1 and 2, Program Aide, Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources); OR
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Pivot Tables
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe CS Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret information and formulate conclusions, strategies, and recommendations
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Additional Comments :

    For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.

  • NY HELPS Program :

    This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

    For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

    At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
