Location : Alamogordo, NM 88310 (New Mexico nursing jobs)

Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)

Unit : Operating Room (OR) – Ortho Surgery focus

Start Date : November 2, 2025

End Date : January 31, 2026

Duration : 13-week contract

Shift : 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM (12-hour day shifts)

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Requirement : Yes

On Call Requirement : Yes, every other week

Floating Requirement : May float to Med / Surg Telemetry if not needed in OR

Nurse / Patient Ratio : 1 : 5

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico or compact state (NM RN license)

BLS certification required (Basic Life Support)

Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience or related clinical nursing specialty

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience with orthopedic surgery, joint replacements, fracture care, shoulder procedures, and podiatry cases preferred

OR RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic and related surgical procedures

Utilize the nursing process for patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation

Administer medications and treatments per hospital protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness

Accurately document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided in the electronic health record

Educate patients, families, and caregivers on surgical procedures, recovery, and post-operative care

Float to Med / Surg Telemetry as needed and participate in on-call rotation

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Demonstrate leadership by assigning and delegating tasks appropriately within the clinical team
