Emergency Medicine Physician

Location : New Hampton is a city in northeastern Iowa, approximately 85 miles to Cedar rapids!

Facility : A medical center that offers a full range of services in an inpatient and outpatient setting as well as 24 hour emergency care, surgical services, primary care clinic, therapy and rehabilitation, diagnostic services, speech and occupational therapy, Senior Life Solutions and specialty clinics.

• Looking for a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician to fill their need!
• Dates of Coverage : PRN- not known at this time
• Schedule : 24 hour shifts 7a to 7a (also 12 hour shifts available)
• Percent of Total Hospital Admissions Received from ED : 103 Admitted inpatients per year and 140 placed in observation
• Percent of ED Patients Admitted to the Hospital per Day : Varies, based on the type of patients presenting to the ER
• Percent of ED Patients Transferred per Day : 173 patients transferred last fiscal year
• Trauma Level : Level IV
• Total Number of Beds : Licensed for 18 inpatient beds, staffed for 11
• Annual ER Volume : 2773 last fiscal year
• EMR : Cerner Community Works now, switching to EPIC end of May 2025
• ED Staff Respond to House Codes : Yes - House Codes Secondary to ED Emergencies
• Admission Orders will be written by ED Physician, our ED Physician is the Hospitalist
• Hospital Bylaws Required Specific Response Time for On Call Physicians : 30 minutes
• Emergency Deliveries, we do not have a Labor & Delivery in house
• ED Responsible for Monitoring / Supervising Paramedics / Ambulance by Radio : Yes
• 24 Hour Availability for Radiology (CT, MRI, X-Ray) : YES
• 24 Hour Availability for Laboratory : Yes
• Blood Bank : Do not have Blood Bank per se
• Pathology : By Appointment, Clinical, Anatomical
• 24 Hour Availability for the OR and Anesthesia : No
• Surgical Services : Only Scheduled Surgeries
• Description of Consultants : Radiologist, Cardiologist, Neurologist, Psychiatrist
• EKG Interpretations are read by ED provider, the Cardiologist overreads
• Estimated Credentialing : Temporary - week; Initial - 1 month
