The Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) invites applications for a Reporting and Analytics Consultant position with a focus on statistical analysis. A successful applicant will engage in applied health services and population health research in a project-based team setting. The successful candidate will provide expertise and support for multiple administrative data and survey projects.
This position requires advanced experience with statistics, preferably with practice in population health research or a similar context. The person accepting this position will lead methodological development and implementation for potentially sophisticated statistical analyses. Some of this work could require the following : practical theoretical knowledge of regression modeling with generalized linear mixed models; experience designing and using survey weights; a strong foundation on the requirements for causal inference; accurate and effective visual and written communication of results; and an interest in mentoring and training less experienced staff. There may be additional project-specific responsibilities for the successful applicant, which may include combinations of the following : assists or leads data analysis and measure construction using electronic health record (EHR) data, healthcare claims and other Medicaid administrative data, or population health survey data; assists with or leads development and maintenance of advanced interactive data visualizations using R Shiny; composes reports, whitepapers, and presentation materials; presents results to team members and other audiences; reviews work products from subcontractors; conducts literature searches and literature reviews; assists with the development of protocols and the composition of institutional review board (IRB) applications; and designs data collection instruments including questionnaires and clinical data collection forms.
Expectations for Reporting and Analytics Consultants may include the following : (1) leading highly complex research tasks or projects as a co-PI or PI, as needed; (2) independently determining the method(s) for completion of new projects (may receive guidance on overall project objectives); (3) developing new practices, processes, metrics or models, and providing solutions which may set precedent for the organization; (4) applying developed subject matter and methodological knowledge and advanced understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects; (5) providing guidance to research project and project sponsor colleagues on multiple projects; (6) conveying difficult, complex or sensitive information, and facilitating productive dialogue among project stakeholders.
Minimum Education Required :
Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to health sciences, statistics, or equivalent is required.
Required Qualifications :
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree in a related field of study. Advanced and demonstrated expertise with statistical analysis in an applied context. Experience working with external clients and other stakeholders is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
Additional Desired Qualifications :
An advanced degree in a statistical or mathematical field of study is preferred. Experience with the R statistical computing environment for data preparation and analysis with consideration for team-based code development is desired. Experience developing R Shiny dashboards is desired. Experience working with health system clients such as health-related state agencies (i.e. the Ohio Department of Medicaid) or hospitals is desired. Experience in applied health services or population health research is desired.
