About The Position

License : Nebraska RN License required, pending license accepted if application has been submitted

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required

Must-Have :

EVD experience required

Joint Commission stroke certified facility experience required

EPIC charting experience required

Experience caring for patients with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas

Description :

This is a 20-bed unit providing intensive care to adult patients.

Patients have suffered traumatic brain injuries, strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas.

Patients do not go to recovery room post-op; they return to the unit for recovery.

This is a multi-care level unit, and RNs should be prepared to care for up to five Med-Surg patients.

External ventricular drains (EVDs) are placed at the bedside.

Patients with EEG leads implanted in their brains to detect seizures can remain on the unit for up to three weeks.

Travelers must be 100% nicotine-free.

Travelers are required to work 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period.

Weekend shifts will include Saturday and Sunday days and Friday and Saturday nights.

Up to two weeks of requested time off is permitted and must be submitted with the application.

Travelers must work 2 of 3 major holidays.

All travelers must have access to necessary equipment and supplies.

Travelers are expected to float within the scope to meet facility needs.

Preferred experience includes working in a Level I trauma facility.

Travelers must attend a mandatory charting class during the first week.

Scrubs are mandatory; a specific color and branding are required.
