Role Overview : The Technical Director of Quality will lead quality excellence initiatives and operational performance. This leadership role requires collaboration across teams to meet business objectives and foster continuous improvement, leveraging expertise in quality assurance, process optimization, and complex manufacturing. The role is onsite at our Irvine, California facility.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the quality organization to promote proactive improvements in design, manufacturing, suppliers, and customer satisfaction. Facilitate monthly management reviews to support continuous improvement.
- Analyze customer returns, failure data, and quality metrics; review repair data to identify root causes and implement CAPA, collaborating with Operations and Engineering.
- Enhance existing processes and develop robust methods across multiple sites.
- Develop and refine KPIs to drive operational excellence.
- Implement quality tools such as quality plans, process flows, FMEA, and DOE.
- Promote a culture of quality within the organization.
- Manage the Quality Management System, conduct internal audits, and lead management reviews.
- Mentor and develop team members to support growth, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics; MS or MBA preferred.At least 12 years in quality engineering, with experience in :Optics manufacturing, including precision optical components, thin film coatings, used in semiconductor, aerospace, or medical fields.Laser systems engineering, including design, fabrication, and operation.Hands-on leadership with strategic and tactical capabilities.Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills; reliability experience is a plus.Excellent communication skills and ability to lead change and build teams.Experience working with OEMs, especially in semiconductor industry, is advantageous.Proficiency with quality tools such as D / PFMEA, DFX, Poke-yoke, NPI, statistical decision-making, 8D, K-T, and knowledge of ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 14001.Physical Demands & Working Conditions :
Ability to manage activities involving sitting, standing, manual dexterity, and coordination.Operate in office and cleanroom environments; use computers and machinery.Observe details at close range; adhere to safety protocols handling hardware and hazardous materials.Additional Information :
