Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in a 9-bed Intensive Care Unit. This role requires strong critical care skills, the ability to manage complex patients, and flexibility to support additional departments when needed. The standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2, with 1 : 1 assignments when clinically indicated. During medical-surgical overflow periods, ratios may increase to 1 : 3 or 1 : 4. The unit primarily cares for adults, though stable pediatric patients may occasionally be admitted. Unstable pediatric cases are transferred to a higher level of care.

A minimum of three nurses are scheduled per shift. Nurses may also be assigned charge responsibilities, and floating may occur to assist other departments (without receiving a patient assignment).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care to critically ill adult patients
  • Monitor, assess, and document changes in patient condition
  • Manage ventilators, drips, and ICU-level interventions
  • Provide care during Med / Surg overflow periods
  • Support pediatric patients when stable
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
  • Float to other departments as needed (without assuming a full patient load)
  • Serve as charge nurse when assigned
  • Adhere to safety, infection-control, and regulatory standards
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation
  • Requirements

  • Active RN license (state-specific as required)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU or CCU experience
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (PALS required)
  • Strong critical-care assessment and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts
  • Not a bilingual-required position
  • Additional Information

  • Holiday coverage is required
