Senior Equipment Operator - District Five / Oviedo Maintenance. This position upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional permit or license will operate vehicles and a variety of large equipment.

Annual Salary Range : $44,301.81 - $57,331.75
Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional permit or license; operates vehicles and a variety of large equipment to include, but not limited to; road graders, sewer cleaner and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance. Performs minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated including but not limited to : check and add fluids, checks / adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc. Assists in the repair of operated equipment. Cleans and washes equipment. Coordinates, participates, and directs the maintenance activity of the assigned crew. Assists in selecting materials, supplies, equipment, inspecting, planning workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees. Maintains records of operation. Prepares and maintains daily paperwork such as crew activity reports and daily vehicle check lists. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments. Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic). Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and / or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs. Trains crew members in the operation of heavy equipment and of basic Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic). Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
Knowledge of : Mathematical calculations. Standard safety rules and procedures. The procedures, techniques and use of equipment in the maintenance and repair of highways, bridges and / or other highway structures.
Ability to : Operate a variety of heavy equipment, and train others. Read and understand job related materials. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others. Lift, carry, and handle up to 50 pounds. Stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend on a frequent basis. Work outdoors in various weather conditions, on various terrains and at various heights or in high volume traffic. Stand for an extended period of time.
Requires two years of experience in operating small / medium equipment and vehicles. Possess a valid Class "A" CDL Instructional Permit. Obtain a valid Class "A" CDL within 10 months of appointment to the position. This position requires a valid Class (A) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy.
Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed. In order to be eligible for hire into a position requiring a Commercial Driver License (CDL), applicants must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA) Clearinghouse, as required, for the Department to conduct a pre-employment query. A mandatory drug screening will be performed on the successful applicant.
