Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Telemetry RN with at least two years of med-surg / tele and prior travel experience for an acute care observation unit in West Virginia.
Responsibilities
Work in a 32-bed acute care telemetry observation unit with primarily adult and geriatric patientsCommon patient diagnoses include respiratory and medical conditions, with care for patients with trachs (not vented)Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 6Unit has 24 / 7 monitor techs and charge nurses; travelers may be cross-trained for charge nurse dutiesShift is 12 hours, days, from 6 : 45 am to 7 : 15 pm, with every other weekend and rotational holidays requiredBlock scheduling is allowed as long as unit needs are metFloating may be required to other Med-Surg units or the Emergency Department for boarded patientsUses Epic EMR; experience with Epic preferredRT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow O2, trach collars, IV pumps, and pulse oximetryRNs are responsible for strip review each shift in collaboration with monitor techs and charge nursesTwo 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor are provided, along with first-day general orientation and computer trainingNavy scrubs are required for RNs; scrubs must be solid color with no patterns or embroiderySolid color fleece zip-ups and undershirts permitted in specific colors; closed-toed shoes requiredNo local travelers allowed; must live more than 50 miles from the facilityReturning travelers must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location for considerationTravelers are limited to working within WVU facilities for up to one year, after which a two-year break is requiredHoliday scheduling is managed with consideration for prior years' coverage and preferencesRequirements
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg / Telemetry RN experiencePrior travel RN experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredExperience with telemetry, critical drips, and trach care requiredExperience with peritoneal dialysis preferredAbility to titrate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem (up to 15mg / hr), Lasix, Dopamine (low dose), and AmiodaroneBenefits
