Summary

As a Child Life Specialist, you will plan, develop, and deliver innovative Child Life programming tailored to meet the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of our pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities :

• Organize, schedule, and oversee special events in inpatient pediatric settings.
• Partner with marketing and public affairs to manage photography and media activities.
• Create strategic initiatives to alleviate fear and anxiety in children during healthcare interactions.
• Prepare patients and families for procedures, utilizing therapeutic play as a key tool.
• Assess children's developmental stages, emotional states, and coping abilities.
• Identify and implement coping strategies to ease the stress of hospitalization and illness.
• Provide individualized services based on each child's unique needs.
• Advise healthcare team members on developmental and behavioral issues affecting patient care.
• Maintain accurate records demonstrating the Child Life services provided to patients.
• Develop and manage the Child Life department’s budget and resources effectively.
• Offer consultations to children of patients, preparing them for hospital visits.

Minimum Qualifications :

Physical Demands :

This position requires the ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing / pulling patients on beds or stretchers. You should be prepared for frequent to continuous standing / walking, with potential walking distances of 8-10 miles per shift. Specific activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR as necessary.
