Job Summary :
The Vet Clinic Manger is responsible for overseeing the operations of the shelter’s veterinary clinic, including shelter medicine, surgery, and staff management. This leadership role ensures the highest standards of medical care for all animals while aligning with the shelter’s mission to improve animal welfare. The Vet Clinic Manager supervises veterinary technicians, and supports staff, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and best medical practices.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee all veterinary medical services, including preventative care, treatment, surgery, and emergency interventions.Supervise and provide leadership to veterinary technicians and clinic support staff.Develop and implement policies and protocols to ensure high-quality shelter medicine and surgical care.Manage clinic operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring efficiency in medical procedures.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing and safety protocols.Collaborate with shelter leadership to create strategies for population management and disease prevention.Provide guidance and mentorship to veterinary staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.Oversee the procurement and inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness.Engage in community outreach efforts, including public education, partnerships with veterinary organizations, and supporting adoption programs.Participate in training staff and volunteers in proper animal care and medical procedures.Monitor and evaluate clinic performance, implementing improvements as needed to optimize animal care and operational efficiency.Other duties / shelter duties as assigned.Qualifications :
Minimum of 3 years of veterinary experience, preferably in shelter medicine, high-volume spay / neuter clinics, or nonprofit animal welfare organizations.Previous leadership or management experience required.Strong knowledge of shelter medicine principles, infectious disease control, and high-volume spay / neuter techniques.Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Compassionate approach to animal care and a commitment to the shelter’s mission.High school diploma or GEDWork Conditions :
This role follows a Tuesday – Saturday schedule to best meet business needs. Additionally, due to the nature of the work, more than 40 hours per week may be required to ensure success in the role at times. Flexibility in work hours, including occasional evenings or extended shifts, may be necessary.Work environment includes exposure to animals, zoonotic diseases, and potentially stressful situations.Physical demands include lifting animals, standing for long periods, and performing surgical procedures.Must be able to work weekends and some holidaysMust be comfortable working with dogs and cats of all ages and temperamentsMaturity, good judgment, professionalism, and ability to work as a teamAbility to remain calm and empathetic in stressful situationsCompassion and empathy for animals and humansFrequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, carrying, and reachingHandle and restrain animals weighing up to 100 lbs.Lift 50 lbs. to waist heightCompensation & Benefits :
