Medical Assistant

Anne Arundel Dermatology is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our outpatient dermatology clinic in Knoxville, TN. The Medical Assistant will assist Physicians and other Providers by preparing procedure trays, ensuring adequate supplies for the department and assisting with patient care.

Anne Arundel Dermatology owns and operates several dermatology clinics within the Knoxville region including Dermatology Associates of Knoxville, Knoxville Dermatology Group and East TN Dermatology.

Knoxville Dermatology Group (KDG) is one of the largest groups of board certified dermatologists in Tennessee. All of our physicians are board-certified with extensive dermatology experience. With thirteen providers between two locations, West Knoxville & Sevierville, we are able to treat our patients for all of their dermatology needs.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to exam room and confirm first & last name & DOB.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Organize patient flow.
• Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.
• Prepare Path / lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan.
• Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed.
• Check to-dos / Nurse line.
• Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule. Keep appropriate records of maintenance.
• Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
• Maintain infection control and make sure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked.
• Ordering, sorting, restocking and inventory of all supplies.
• Document all medical instructions given to patients, thoroughly review wound care with patients when applicable.
• Anesthesia / Inject for procedures.
• Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner.

Must maintain HIPAA compliance

Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
