We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Respiratory Therapist to join a dynamic healthcare team in the Southern Gulf Coast region. This role involves delivering organized and competent respiratory therapy with a strong focus on patient safety and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory therapies while prioritizing patient safety and education.
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers to ensure accurate treatment delivery.
- Review medical records for relevant orders and diagnostic information, collaborating closely with nursing staff and physicians.
- Assess patients across all age groups for individualized needs, including education, medication effectiveness, and treatment response.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations such as rapid response calls and codes.
- Maintain proficiency in oxygen therapy, respiratory medications, and diagnostic procedures like EKG and stress tests.
- Recognize and document signs of respiratory dysfunction in patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and proper hand hygiene to prevent infection spread.
- Clean, decontaminate, troubleshoot, and maintain ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and inventory management of durable and disposable respiratory supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and attend work punctually.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to uphold high standards of patient care.
- Report critical situations and departmental needs to appropriate authorities.
- Maintain competency in blood gas sampling, quality control, and documentation of blood gas analyzer results.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals and values.
Education and Experience
Applicants should hold relevant respiratory therapy credentials and demonstrate experience in clinical respiratory care. Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is highly preferred.
