Fitness Attendant

Description

This position is responsible to help support the City of Merriam's mission by helping to present a safe, sanitary, friendly, and fun patron experience, performing duties in a safe manner, while promoting the City's values.

Essential Functions

• Provide a high level of hospitality to patrons of the Community Center to include guest assistance and fitness equipment education.
• Inspect and evaluate the fitness equipment and report signs of wear to supervisor.
• Understand and enforce all facility policies.
• Control overuse / monopolization of equipment during peak hours.
• Supervise guest activities in gymnasium, fitness center, and walking track.
• Provides basic first aid to patrons, as needed.
• Stock towels for patron use and assists in the laundering of community center property.
• Assist with fitness center orientations helping to educate patrons on the proper use of fitness equipment.
• Assist with special event set-up, to include tables and chairs, event-specific equipment, and room preparation.
• Serves as birthday party room host.
• Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized by performing light maintenance duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and disinfecting equipment to ensure a sanitary and clean patron experience.
• Carries out all duties in a safe manner and in keeping with industry standards.
• Promotes City values at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.
