Job Purpose The Risk Management Specialist within Enterprise Risk Management & Insurance Programs (ERM) will provide technical knowledge and subject matter expertise encompassing all aspects of the University's workers compensation program. Key components of this position will be to identify exposures facing the University's workforce through proper administration and oversight of the self-insurance workers' compensation program and assist the Associate Director of ERM in the administration of the Certificate of Insurance Program and the completion of casualty and property applications including those not included in the Michigan Universities Self-Insurance Corporation (M.U.S.I.C.) core contracts. This position reports to Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management & Insurance Programs.

Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience). Certification as a Certified Workers Compensation Professional. Proven experience in risk management, preferably in the higher education industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of the Worker' Disability Compensation Act and Administrative Rules, State of MI. Extensive knowledge of MIOSHA Rules and Regulations as they pertain to employee injury recordkeeping and reporting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse proficient team. Interpret medical reports and records provided by hospitals and health care agencies. Interpret International Classification of Diseases as well as diagnoses. Multi-task and prioritize tasks, assignments, projects from department leadership. Must have good oral, written, instructional, analytical and computer skills. Proficient in the use of automated management systems including the university work comp software program and a risk management information system program. Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
