Executive Associate Dean Description
Reporting directly to the Dean, the EAD works with the administrative leadership team to accomplish the mission of the College of Dentistry. In support of the Dean, the EAD is involved in oversight, strategic planning, and operations of the College of Dentistry, providing day-to-day leadership and direction concerning policies, practices, and systems. The EAD is expected to solve problems, mediate disputes, and address concerns before escalation to the Dean's level. As a confidante and advisor to the Dean, the EAD will collaborate with the dean on the conceptualization and refinement of ideas.
The EAD is responsible for ensuring the College provides quality educational programs, infrastructure for research, and engaged faculty service to the College, campus, community, and profession. Teaching and research responsibilities may vary depending on the candidate's interests and expertise.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is a statewide institution with its home campus in Memphis, major locations in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville, and more than 100 clinical and educational sites across Tennessee. Our institution comprises six fully accredited health science colleges - Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy -integrated for maximum educational and clinical impact at our major locations. These colleges are the primary source of healthcare professional training for Tennessee. The main campus in Memphis serves as the home of all our colleges.
The College of Dentistry is comprised of five academic offices and ten academic departments that include six post-doctoral programs (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontology, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics). While the primary clinical operation is in Memphis, TN, the college oversees five rotation sites across the state from Kingsport to Union City in support of the State's Healthy Smiles Initiative to improve the oral health of Tennesseans.
