Description :

This position requires working in a fast-paced emergency room environment.

The unit consists of 56 beds, with hall beds bringing the total to 60-70.

There is a fast track area with 6 beds and a separate triage area with 5 beds.

Travelers may take a triage test for potential assignment.

The emergency department has 18 designated holding beds for inpatients awaiting placement.

Emergency RNs manage their own ER holds.

A separate locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms is available for psychiatric patients.

In-house security is present for safety.

The department sees approximately 170-200 patients per day.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3 for acute cases and 1 : 4 for low acuity cases.

Common diagnoses include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory issues, abdominal pain, and mental health concerns.

The department is equipped with various respiratory therapies and ED Techs perform EKGs.

Radiology is adjacent for quick patient transport.

Phlebotomy is primarily performed by nurses or ED Techs.

Travelers are expected to work every other weekend.

Holiday work is required during peak times in November and December, with some flexibility for schedule conflicts.

There are no call or standby requirements, but extra shifts are available as needed.

Professional dress code is required for all staff.

Unit-specific orientation covers policies, education, and training for effective integration into the team.

Cancellation policy allows for hospital shifts to be canceled under certain conditions during assignments.

Charting is conducted through the Epic system.
